I am completely obsessed with skincare. The other day, a co-worker of mine told me that when he got home from the club last weekend, he was wayyy too tired to wash his makeup off. But he heard my voice in his head saying, “Your skin ages 7 times faster when you sleep with your makeup on!!!” So he washed it off. I’m ok with being that voice! Actually, being that voice….#lifegoals
We all know the basics, don’t go to bed with makeup on, drink lots of water, moisturize, etc. But what products have I used that actually make a noticeable difference? Let me tell you.
Clean It Out
Obv, before you put all the good stuff on, you need to get the gross stuff out. I’ve always been a huge fan of nose strips. The immediate gratification of seeing what they do. Ahhhh.
Tony Molly has this 3 step system that rocks. Yes, it takes a little more time, but as someone who has tried lots and lots of brands, let me tell you this is worth the time. Get it at Ulta!
Speaking of Clean
This makeup removing Camellia oil from Tatcha is so great. It gets all the heavy stuff off so quickly. I always follow up any cleanser with a toner or witch hazel to make certain there is zero residue, and this gets me to that step so much more quickly than others. Get it here!
So necessary, but don’t over do it.
Lately I’ve been avoiding scrubs or polishes on my face, but still need to exfoliate. Solution? This impressive Glow Tonic by Pixi. It contains 5% glycolic acid, which turns up your cell turnover and smooths things out without tearing at the skin at all. Try this out before you do your makeup one day and you will be amazed at the difference. This awesome brand is sold at Target.
I Love a Good Sheet Mask
We’ve all seen them, they’re trendy, and they’re everywhere. But don’t be fooled by the similar wording and packaging, all sheet masks are not alike. While some make your skin glowy, bright and even ‘juicy’, some just clog your pores with their artificial scent and gloppy serums.
Honestly, I wanted to recommend a few brands for this, but even though there are a few different ones that I do use repeatedly, TonyMoly is just my overall favorite brand. They have such a great selection, they have never given me a bad reaction, my skin always benefits from them, and they are so inexpensive! That being said, these two are my faves. Find the whole collection here.
TonyMoly Aloe- This is a staple in my winter routine or anytime I need a moisture pick me up. This mask will not disappoint you. It is hands down the most effective sheet I have ever put on my face.
TonyMoly Red Wine- This gives me an instant, noticeable boost. Love it.
Every once in awhile, you come across a product that works so extraordinarily that you don’t even know how you lived without it. These Skin Inc serums are that for me. I originally tried them when sephora had a small ‘glow’ kit of them under their rewards bazaar. I will never go without these again.
The super thing about this is that the serums come separately, so you can pick and choose the formulas that you need for your skin. They are $35 a piece BUT you can design your own kit- which contains any 3 you want- for $84. They even send you a cute little bottle to mix them together and turn it into a one step experience (and you get to pick what color bottle you want❤). I only use these at night, and my skin looks sooooo much better from them! I’m currently using the hyaluronic acid, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Get it at Sephora!
Face oils are something I’ve only been into over the past few years. I love the luxurious feel of them, and there is nothing else that gives you the specific glow that comes from a really great oil. This product was introduced to me by a friend in the hair industry. She gave me a small bottle of it and said she loved dabbing it around her eyes when she really needed a pick me up. Not to be one to use a little bit of something type, I started using half a dropper full all over my face every night. I soon realized that literally 3 drops will cover your entire face on its own. And I still use it on my whole face. Usually a few times a week before bed, on top of serum, on top of moisturizer. Interesting enough, this Marula Oil is by Paul Mitchell and meant to be used as a hair treatment, but does instruct that it is gentle enough for skin. Get it here!
I use a little bit of everything, and try out tons of things. If you use or decide to try out any of these products, let me know what you think!
